Repeated Vomiting

Seek prompt medical attention if nausea and vomiting are accompanied by symptoms such as:

  • Chest pain
  • Blurred vision
  • Fainting
  • Confusion
  • Severe headache (especially if you have not had this type of headache before)
  • Inability to eat or drink for 12 hours (8 hours for a child)
  • Dehydration — excessive thirst, dry mouth, infrequent urination, dark-colored urine and weakness, dizziness or lightheadedness upon standing
  • Vomit that contains blood, resembles coffee grounds or is green
Even if you do not have these symptoms, if something does not seem right and is associated with vomiting, seek immediate attention.
