Celebrating Community and Tradition: Tarleton State University Fort Worth Campus’ Inaugural Tree Lighting Ceremony

On the evening of November 14, 2024, the Tarleton State University Fort Worth campus transformed into a winter wonderland, as students, alumni, and faculty gathered for the inaugural Tree Lighting Ceremony. This special event marked the beginning of the holiday season and provided a beautiful opportunity for the Tarleton community to come together, celebrate, and reflect on the spirit of unity that defines the university.

A Night to Remember

As the sun set, the campus was adorned with festive lights and decorations, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Students, faculty, and alumni arrived, excited to partake in this cherished tradition. The air was filled with laughter, music, and excitement, setting the stage for an evening of joy and celebration. The ceremony began with a heartfelt welcome from university officials who emphasized the importance of community and togetherness. Festivities included photos with ornament decorating, letters to Santa, games, inflatable sleigh, photos with Santa, and of course the famous Oscar P.!

Representatives from Surepoint joined in the festivities, engaging with attendees and sharing information about their services, reinforcing the bond between the university and local businesses.

A Symbol of Hope and Unity

As the countdown to the tree lighting began, everyone held their breath in anticipation. With a flick of a switch, the magnificent tree sparkled to life, illuminating the night with thousands of twinkling lights. The crowd erupted in cheers, and the scene was filled with smiles, hugs, and shared moments of joy. Dr. James Hurley- President of Tarleton State University closed with these remarks:

“Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year. Whatever you celebrate, celebrate it with a lot of love, and remember the season because we’re a family. Cherish your family, both your Tarleton State family, and your external family. May you forever Bleed Purple.”
