Surepoint Emergency Centers Sponsors and Competes in the First Annual Mansfield Education Foundation Pickleball Tournament

In a vibrant show of community spirit and support for local education, Surepoint Emergency Centers proudly sponsored and participated in the first annual MISD Education Foundation Pickleball Tournament, held last week at the popular Chick-N-Pickle in Grand Prairie. This exciting event not only highlighted the growing popularity of pickleball but also showcased the commitment of local businesses to enhancing educational opportunities for students in the Mansfield area.

Surepoint Emergency Centers, known for its dedication to health and wellness, jumped at the opportunity to sponsor the event. “Supporting local education is a core value for us,” said Michelle Newsom, the President of Surepoint Emergency Centers. “By participating in the tournament, we not only promote physical health but also contribute to the intellectual growth of our community’s youth. It’s a win-win!”
The tournament saw participation from various teams, from local businesses around the Mansfield area. Each match was filled with laughter and camaraderie, as players showcased their skills on the courts. Surepoint Emergency Centers entered under team name “ER All-Stars”, and was comprised of Regional Clinical Director Jeremy Solis, BSN, RN and Surepoint Nurse Manager Kim McMullen, BSN, RN, all eager to engage in friendly competition while supporting a noble cause. Other Surepoint Medical Centers Staff and family members came out to help support the fundraiser and cheer on our noble contenders!

 

Mansfield ISD Education Foundation:

The Mansfield ISD Education Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), consisting of a coalition of people who care about the education of our youth. By partnering with the community, we work together to bring creative, innovative programs into the classroom and offer funding beyond what tax dollars are able to provide.

We had a chance to ask Jennifer Kureck, Education Foundation Director a few questions about what the MISD Education Foundation is working in our community:

SP: What do you see as one of the greatest challenge(s) facing young people today?

JK:  “One of the greatest challenges facing our youth today is the widening opportunity gap. Many students lack access to resources that can enhance their educational experience. This includes classroom manipulatives and materials for core subjects, technology, social-emotional resources, and even extracurricular activities. This gap can limit one’s potential and overall educational experience. Texas public schools are currently operating under a budget from 2019, which restricts the resources available to students.”

SP: How does the MISD Education Foundation assist with this challenge(s) 

JK: “The Mansfield ISD Education Foundation seeks to close this gap by providing funding for grants that enable our teachers to create innovative educational opportunities. By funding grants that introduce new learning concepts, enhance student engagement, and cultivate critical thinking skills, the foundation is able to provide educators with the necessary tools needed to close that gap, creating a more equitable learning environment for all students. These additional resources enhance the educational opportunities for all students as well as encourage innovative thinking and collaboration among our staff.” 

SP: How can the community help support MISD Education Foundation in this?

JK: “The Mansfield ISD Education Foundation serves a vital link in providing essential resources and opportunities for MISD students. Community support is crucial to our mission of helping all students succeed both academically and personally. Financial contributions from local partners can provide essential funding for teacher grants, enhancing the educational opportunities for students. In-Kind donations, such as supplies, technology, and services, can directly benefit teachers and enrich the classroom environment.  In addition, businesses can sponsor specific events, such as our annual golf tournament, allowing them to promote their brand while also supporting education. We also encourage our community partners to share the foundation’s mission and events with their networks, helping to raise awareness about the importance of public education. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our students one grant at a time and enhance the educational environment in Mansfield!”
