Clinical Coordinator

Clinical Requirements:  2 shifts per week

Administrative Requirements:  16 hours per week

Call Requirements:  1-2 weekends per month for 3 rotating facilities

Job Summary:

The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for creating safe, healthy environments that support the work of the health care team and contribute to patient engagement. The role is influential in creating a professional environment and fostering a culture where interdisciplinary team members are able to contribute to optimal patient outcomes and professional growth. Clinical Coordinators are nursing leaders with 24-hour accountability and responsibility for Surepoint Emergency Center and provide the vital link between the administrative strategic plan and the point of care.

Job Functions per the direction of the Regional Clinical Director:

Financial Management:

  • Create and monitor a budget
  • Analyze and explain budget variance

Human Resource Leadership and Management:

  • Scope of practice
    • Develop role definitions consistent with the scope of practice
    • Implement changes in a role consistent with the scope of practice
    • Oversee and evaluate orientation process
  • Evaluate staffing needs and patterns
    • Assess scheduling needs of facilities
    • Evaluate gap patterns and develop solutions
    • Collaborate with Nurse Managers to fills holes in schedules
    • Fill in for shifts or call schedule when other feasible measures can not be obtained
  • Staff selection
    • Select and hire qualified applicants using individual and team interview techniques

    • Work with Laboratory Technical Consultant to uphold standards set forth by CLIA and COLA
    • Uphold requirements set forth by the State of Texas Department of Health in regards to free-standing Emergency Center practices and regulations
    • Maintain employee files for up-to-date licenses and certifications and holds staff accountable for non-compliance
    • Hold staff accountable for Medtrainer courses requirements
    • Hold staff accountable for job performance and staff meeting attendance
    • Hold staff accountable for non-compliance with regulations set forth by the State of Texas Department of Health, Texas Board of Pharmacy, Texas Board of Medical Radiology, CLIA, and COLA.
    • Holds staff accountable for non-compliance with policies and procedures set forth by Surepoint Emergency Center
